By accessing or using STAR AI Tutor ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
The Service is operated by Chris Gregg, trading as STAR AI Tutor, based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and us.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
STAR AI Tutor is an educational platform designed to help P6 and P7 pupils in Northern Ireland prepare for the GL Assessment transfer test. The Service provides practice questions (pre-generated and AI-validated before being stored in our question bank), mock exams that mirror the real transfer test format, progress tracking, personalised study recommendations, and STAR Chat — an AI-assisted chat tutor and parent advisor.
While we apply quality validation processes to maintain accuracy, AI-assisted content may occasionally contain errors. STAR AI Tutor is a supplementary study tool and is not a substitute for qualified professional tutoring or classroom teaching. Parents are encouraged to review any content that appears incorrect and report it to us.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where possible. If we discontinue the Service entirely during an active subscription period, we will provide a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your subscription and allow a reasonable period for you to export your child's progress data on request.
The Service is intended for use by children aged 9–12, under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Accounts must be created by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over — not by the child.
By creating an account, you confirm that:
As the account holder, you are responsible for supervising your child's use of the Service, including their use of STAR Chat. You are responsible for ensuring your child uses the Service appropriately and in accordance with these Terms. If your child encounters any content that concerns you, please report it to us immediately at staraitutor.support@gmail.com.
You must create an account to access the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must notify us immediately at staraitutor.support@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your account where you have failed to keep your credentials secure.
You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts for the same child.
Access to the full Service requires a paid subscription. Current pricing is displayed on our Pricing page. We offer a 7-day free trial for new subscribers — no charge is applied until the trial period ends.
Subscriptions are billed monthly. Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.
You may cancel at any time during the 7-day free trial without being charged. To avoid a charge, you must cancel before the trial period ends. Cancellation is done through your account settings or by contacting us at staraitutor.support@gmail.com.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason. However, by accessing the Service (including starting your free trial or using any features), you acknowledge that you are requesting immediate performance of the contract and that you lose your right to cancel under these regulations once the Service has begun. This does not affect your right to cancel your ongoing subscription as described below.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to the Service until that date. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except in cases of billing error or where required by law.
We may change our subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase by email. If you do not cancel before the price change takes effect, you will be charged at the new rate.
You agree to use the Service only for its intended educational purpose. You must not:

All content, design, code, and materials on the STAR AI Tutor platform — including AI-generated questions produced by the Service — are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our express written permission.
Your account data and learning records remain yours. We use them only as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Service, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
Parents are encouraged to review AI-generated content with their child and report any errors to us at staraitutor.support@gmail.com.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of opportunity.
Our total liability to you in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in subscription fees in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at staraitutor.support@gmail.com. On account closure, we will retain your data for 12 months in case you wish to reactivate, after which it will be deleted or anonymised. See our Privacy Policy for details.
These Terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland.
If you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
